Day 6 - A1A

Tuesday we drove A1A, all the way from Jacksonville Beach to Vero Beach at a leisurely pace.

Mike left for work early but we said our goodbyes to Val and her dog Jet (Jet Black) and we were on our way.

We stopped to a few times just to see the beaches.  They were deserted, it was about 65F with a strong on shore wind.

A1A was only busy in the cities, I think only tourists use it to go from A to B.

We stopped at the Kennedy Space Center around 3PM.  Given we had at most a few hours before closure we decided to not pay the admission of $57/person and moved on.

When did those prices go nuts, I can't imagine all families can afford those admission prices.

We saw some interesting things in the parking lot.  If you read to the sign is says youtube "TheJoshSeanShow", I am going to have to check it out.

We made our way down the coast to Vero Beach for the evening. I think we saw more motorcycles on A1A than cars, we rode it in 2016 when we attended Bike Week in Daytona, but only from Palm Beach to Daytona.  It is worthy of another motorcycle ride in the future, maybe if we can drag a few of our norther riders with us in the winter.

The leisurely pace and a bit of a tail wind resulted in almost 20 mpg (versus 16 to 18mpg typical) when we filled up in Vero Beach, it is amazing how much wind drag makes a difference.

Tomorrow we will make our way across Florida to visit our good friends John and Liz for a few days. It will be good to stay in one place for a few days.

  1. We always enjoy A1A.
You should have gone to cape Canaveral national seashore instead. You could have seen black lacy thongs, remember!!!

  2. We should have consulted you Debbie!...next time. We would have walked more on the beaches but it was very windy and cool. A1A is very scenic, now to cross the state west.
