Day 9 - Chillaxin

Friday was a bit of a lazy day.  June, Liz and I took a 4 mile walk in the morning, I have not walked that far since last fall, my feet hurt....

We came by this strange plant on our walk...I think it is "Clathrus ruber is a species of fungus in the stinkhorn family, and the type species of the genus Clathrus." However, I could not find any internet pictures that were as symmetrically perfect as this one. It is just a bit larger than a softball.

We were going to take a boat ride, but since John had to be be home around 4PM for his Bocce Ball match, we booked the boat for Saturday.

We then took a car ride to Punta Gorda to walk around the the Fisherman's Village.

It is an interesting area with lots of shops and restaurants on a big pier.

At one time it was the location for some major fish packing plants.

We returned to Fort Myers for John's Bocce match, but an afternoon shower canceled that.  So we hung out by the pool in the Lanai for a bit in the afternoon before dinner.

Just before dinner we got to meet Josh, Liz and John's 17 year old grand son. Josh and his parents live in Key Largo, Josh was in Fort Myers visiting friends and stopped by to shower, say hello, and get a free dinner.  He was off school for the week, such is the life of a 17 year old. Josh is recovering from shoulder surgery too, so we compared scars. At 17 his recovery is progressing at a much more rapid rate than mine..yeah I am jealous.

It was a laid back day, but a good day.

  1. I rather enjoy the morning walks, thanks Liz. We have been eating very well, today was no exception. I was bummed about Bocce being cancelled tho, I was ready to heckle John. Another great day in Florida.
